Christina & Jonathon a Wedding in Santorini Day 2

Christina, Jonathon, their friends and family were going to have a rehearsal dinner one day before the wedding at Feredini restaurant in Oia,

Me, Christina and Jonathon went there a couple hours earlier so we walk the little streets in Oia and take some engagement style photos in the picturesque town.

It was a long and tiring walk and the day was a bit too hot for everyone but we had a good time and it was well worth the effort.

We finished our photo shoot a little after sunset and the long walk increased our appetite.

The excellent food and service at Feredini restaurant was our reward for that.

Christina & Jonathon A Wedding in Santorini Day 1

Christina & Jonathon came from Ohio to have a beautiful wedding in the famous sunset island.
This was supposed to be a two day coverage with an engagement session and rehearsal dinner on Monday and the wedding on Tuesday.
However when I found out that they were going to have a tour in the island on Sunday, I took the oportunity and decided to go in Santorini one day earlier and join them in the tour.

I arrived at 11:35 Sunday morning and the tour had already started but Christina & Jon had already arrange that I get picked up and transfered at the boat they were in.

Alkyon (another tour boat) was waiting for me to arrive at Athinios port and get me to Hermes, our boat, at the volcano.

Well, I have to admit that even though I love tours, I am not a huge fan of boats, and even though in the end of the boat trip I managed to get sea sick, the scenery, the people and the hospitality of the couple made it an amazing experience that I am glad that iI didn’t miss. Did I mentioned the people? This was an amazing crowd, they came to Greece to have fun and they sure did. I just love it when people have fun!
The tour started at the volcano, I got on their boat right before their departure to the hot springs where we stoped for a swim (didn’t try that as it wasn’t very convenient for me) and then we docked to Amoudi bay to continue from there with the bus to Kamari for lunch and then the Santo Winery for some wine tasting in the sunset hour.
Almost half of the shots I took the first day were with my little Sony RX100 which proved to be an amazing camera and just perfect for the occasion.

Kalli & Michalis wedding in Chania Part 1

After the burglary in my office the last day of March I wasn’t feeling so good posting on my blog.

The feeling of being robbered is not a pleasent one and that turned me down a bit.

However since last week I have all my new stuf on my hands, a new much desired Canon 5D markIII, along with a few new lenses and accesories so now I am up and running again.

The new camera helped me forget about my stolen stuff and I can now concentrate on my job again.

So my first post after the burglary had to be something nice. So I’m posting one of my favorite weddings in Chania for 2011.

I was so happy that Kalli & Michalis chose me for their wedding, I simply cannot describe it.

They both live in Athens but their heart is in Crete.

This was a wedding I lived a little bit more than others since I joined them on their pre-wedding party and we also took a day trip together, to Elafonissi for a next day photo shoot. It was my favorite wedding in Chania for 2011.

This is the first part with pictures from their wedding day.

“fearless photographers” best of show award

I am a professional photographer for approximately 12 years and I had never win a competition or taken an award or anything. How could I anyway? I had never sent an image to a competition!

Well, one thing I know for sure, to win an award in a competition, first thing you have to do is enter the competition (how genius is that?)

Being a member of the Fearless Photographers group for a couple months now, I decided to enter their monthly competition. The fact that some of the best photographers in the world are members there and submit images in the competition regularly, wasn’t working in my favor so I entered the competition not really expecting anything, especially after I found out that more than 2500 images were submitted from great photographers from all around the world.

I was really surprised when I saw my picture not only featured in the awards but also receiving a “best of show” title meaning that my picture was one of the 5 pictures that all 5 judges voted for.

Getting a “fearless” award is a great honor, getting a “fearless, best of show” award though is an even greater one and really not something I could even dream of.

So here is the image that was awarded:

Stathis & Ioanna

When a D.J. gets married you can expect that the party is going to be awesome. Well, Stathis, Ioanna and their friends didn’t let us down on this. That was a hell of a party!!! We left at 5:30 in the morning if that says anything…
Stathis is one of my favorite wedding D.J.s and when he plays the dance floor is always packed.
He didn’t play music on his own wedding of course but he was everywhere partying and enjoying the night.
The reception started with a concept pre-wedding video my colleagues from Atheaton Productions did for them and Stathis & Ioanna entered Esperos with balloons that matched the video’s theme.
The first surprise was with the music band NOSTODIA. OMG the guys were AMAZING. It was the first time I really enjoyed a band that was there to provide the “traditional” Cretan music part of the reception.
Noooo, not your average Cretan music band, these guys play everything and they play it well and with THEIR OWN style. They played traditional Cretan, “alternative Cretan” (that’s what I thought off when I heard them playing some traditional Cretan songs in a completely different way), acoustic, Disco, Rock & Roll, Rock, Greek folk music, Greek rock music, they even did dome stand-up-comedy-like songs. And most importantly they did them well keeping the party mood really high the whole time. Congratulations guys.

The party of course had a D.J.s part as well and Christos “Miller”, George Siras from Athens, and Juliet Sikora that traveled from Germany for Stathis & Ioanna wedding in the decks made everyone go mad dancing on the floor.

Stathi & Ioanna thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding, It was really a pleasure.

This was the first wedding we were hired to do video only.

This is quite rare as we are basicaly a photography studio but it gave me the chance to shoot video for the whole day, something quite new and interesting to me.

I regularly shoot “some” video in every wedding but I do so only when I have nothing else to do since I’m usually the photographer. I have to admit that I really enjoy shooting video… actually, I love it.

After this experience I’m looking forward to book another “video only” wedding.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love photography but I like doing something different every now and then for a change.

This is a little teaser we did for their wedding video.

Efi and Avraam’s wedding was my favorite Greek wedding for 2010

Lots of fun with the easy going couple and their enthusiastic guests plus a different photo shoot a few days after the wedding.

I actually bloged about this wedding at the WedPro blog a few months ago but I had to make a blog post on my own blog too.

My second favorite wedding for this post is the wedding of Craig and Joanne. A lovely young couple from England that was realy fun to work with. Joanne is very photogenic and that made it really hard for me to choose my favorite pictures. Their wedding was in Koumos restaurant in Kalyves, everything there is self build with stones by the owner of the restaurant. A very interesting place indeed, with very good traditional Cretan food.

Vanessa and Aaron are from the United States and they got married at the Elunda Mare hotel in the other side of the island.

They had a very small but also very romantic wedding.

For me it was 4 hours drive back and forth for only two hours of shooting but it was well worth it.

Karen and John are English but they love Crete so much that they bought a house here. John actually comes in Crete for so many years now that he actually considers himself Greek. They both actually asked me to write their names in Greek in their wedding album.

Their wedding was definately one of my favorites for 2010
